Last week I participated in my first read-a-thon, the seventh Bout of Books read-a-thon that is, and I'm so glad I did. Not only did I finally finish one of the books that's been on my currently-reading shelf forever, I also participated in a twitter chat and had lots of fun tweeting with other boutofbookers in general.

Read-A-Thon Challenge: Alternate Titles
Part of the
Bout of Books read-a-thon are the challenges! One of the challenges today is
the Alternate Titles challenge hosted by the Book Barbies:
What if you had the chance to rename a book? What would you title it? You could take your mission seriously and think of a new, better fitting title or you could do a silly new title. Just pick any book you've read and give it a new title OR you could pick a book you either read or haven't read and give it a new title based on the book's cover. Just get to renaming!
Have you met Pat?
Now I don’t exactly mean that the same way as Barney does when he says “Have
you met Ted?”. I’m not trying to hook Pat, from The Silver Linings Playbook, up to anyone. But with
this renamed title I am trying to introduce you to Pat, one of the most
delightful characters I’ve read about this year.
Make Me Stop Whining
I’m probably not going to make friends with saying this, I’ve only hear
phenomenal things about Shatter Me, but I didn’t like it that much. I finished
reading it this morning and while I did enjoy the last couple of chapters, Juliette
annoyed me especially in the first part of the book. I know her situation is
awful, but I didn’t like at all how she kept repeating how horrible her life is
and what a terrible world she’s living in. I got it after the first whine-sesh,
m’kay?
Pretty Little Liars #1, #2, #3, etc.
Instead of calling the PLL books, Pretty Little Liars, Flawless, Perfect,
Unbelievable and such, I would like to rename these books as PLL #1, PLL #2,
PLL #3, and so on. I never memorize these titles, let alone the order in which
they go, so we might as well make it easy for ourselves. I would also like to
apply this renaming to the Gossip Girl and Sookie Stackhouse series.
I hope you won’t take my renamings too seriously, I’m just having fun over
here. If you’re participating, I wish you all the best with the read-a-thon.
Either way, happy reading!
Review: School Spirits
School
Spirits is the first book in a spin-off series. Rachel Hawkins had previously
written the Hex Hall series, a series I’ve always wanted to read but never had
a chance to. Fortunately, Disney-Hyperion was so kind to send me an eGalley of
the first book in the School Spirits series.
First of
all I would like to say that you do not need to read the Hex Hall books before
reading School Spirits. I bet School Spirits would be even more fun to read when you've read the previous books by Rachel Hawkins,
but I did not feel like I was missing out on anything. In fact, I did not know
School Spirits was a spin-off until I started doing my research after reading
this book.

Bout of Books 7.0 READ-A-THON
I’ve been eyeing the Bout of Books read-a-thon for about a
week now. All my favorite bookbloggers and booktubers were talking about it on
twitter. I considered participating, but thought I wouldn’t have enough time to
actually read some. But after reading Judith’s article about this read-a-thon
over at paperiot.com and I thought I should give it a try. What is the Bout of
Books read-a-thon, you ask?
